Boo hoo hoooooooo!!!!

The day came, the girls started back to school today. They picked out their clothes last night, and had everything ready to go. Richard was able to be off today, so he was home to take our first graders and sixth grader to school. He went and got us donuts this morning for breakfast. We took Alex first. She looked so pretty. She was NERVOUS. As we were walking her in, she had a few tears in her eyes but was strong and found her place to go to. Next we took Kirstin and Kali. We dropped Kali off in her room first. She was pumped and ready to go. She is a natural at school. She loves the work and she loves the socialization. She had the "don't let the door hit you in the butt" attitude with us. We couldn't leave quick enough. She had colored her teacher a picture and handed it to her so proudly this morning. Kirstin was last to drop off. She clenched my hand and said, "momma, I'm so afraid". She didn't want to go in. Richard and I walked her to her seat and her teacher immediately helped with the situation . As we left, the tears were gone and she looked so brave sitting in her seat. I am now here at home and Richard and I are going to run errands today. Do some Sam's groceries, visit Lowes, and I am going to go spend a gift card at the bookstore that I have had for months. I'll update later on how the day went.

Sounds like an emotional morning for all. I can't help but think ahead to my time when this will be happening. I can't wait to hear how the first day of school goes for them. Keep me posted.

Gosh, even all these years later I can still remember the feeling of starting a new school. I can also remember the smell of brand new school supplies. Isn't it funny how things stick with us into adulthood? I hope they had a most wonderful day.
